The trivet that adapts to the pan
We spent years using trivets that were always the wrong size. Too big for the espresso pot, too small for the roasting dish. At some point it became clear: the problem is not the size. The problem is that there is a size at all.
So we took the trivet apart into six pieces.
Six pieces, any surface
Put three creggles under the frying pan. Six spread wide under the roasting dish. Four in a rectangle under the casserole. You decide the surface, not the trivet.
A rigid trivet cannot do that. It has one shape, and your cookware has to fit it. Here it is the other way round.
No mechanism, just form
A creggle is a single piece of silicone. No hinge, no attachment, nothing that can jam or break. Three spheres joined into one flat unit, and that shape does all the work.
The part we like best is the symmetry: top and bottom are identical.
There is no wrong side. You toss the pieces onto the table and they land right.
No aligning, no thinking, not even with a hot pot in your other hand. That is the difference between an object you use and one you operate.
What that means day to day
Heat does not build up. The cookware stands on a few points instead of a closed surface. Air circulates underneath and the table stays cooler.
Nothing slips. Silicone grips the table below and the base of the pan above.
Up to 220 °C. Straight from the hob to the table. Each single creggle carries 1.5 kg, six together carry 9 kg, more than any roasting dish you would want to lift.
Into the dishwasher. Silicone takes on neither smell nor colour. Tomato sauce leaves nothing behind.
And when you do not need it
Six creggles nest into one another and disappear into a flat metal box of 105 × 75 × 20 mm. The whole set weighs 80 grams.
A rigid trivet occupies a drawer permanently. This one fits in the cutlery drawer, the camping box, the boat galley. Exactly where space is tightest, it is most useful.
And by the way: six egg cups
The same three-point support that carries the pot holds an egg at the breakfast table. Any size, without a matching hollow.
All colours and combinations
Creggles came out of an older egg cup prototype and our trivet craggles. The whole story
