The egg cup that holds any egg
An egg cup has a hollow. That hollow has one size. And the egg you have just boiled has a different one. It wobbles, it sits too deep, or it stands so high that you can barely take the top off.
So we left the hollow out.
Three points instead of a shape
Three spheres joined in one plane. The egg rests on three points and centres itself. A small quail egg just as well as a large goose egg, a round one just as well as a pointed one.
Nothing has to fit, because nothing is prescribed. That is the whole idea, and honestly it surprised us too when the first prototype stood on the table.
Symmetrical, and therefore foolproof
Top and bottom are identical.
There is no wrong side. Toss it on the table and you are done.
Children manage it before they are properly awake. And if one falls off the breakfast table, it simply lands the right way up again.
Unusual without being silly
An egg cup is normally the least noticeable object on the breakfast table. This one is not.
The shape is unfamiliar enough that guests pick it up and ask what it actually is. And minimal enough to suit any tableware, from good porcelain to an enamel plate. Original, not a joke. A design object that happens to hold an egg as well.
Six in the box, single colour or mixed. Enough to set a table, not just one place.
Practical all day
Non-slip and tip-stable. Even a vigorous strike at the top leaves everything standing.
Up to 220 °C. The egg may come straight out of the pot.
Into the dishwasher. Taste-neutral, odour-neutral, takes on no colour.
Giftable without wrapping
The set comes in a metal box with a viewing window. For Easter, for a housewarming, or for the person who has a kitchen and supposedly owns everything already.
And by the way: a trivet that adapts
The same six pieces carry 1.5 kg each and withstand 220 °C. Spread under a pot or pan they become a trivet that adapts to any size.
All colours and combinations
Creggles came out of an older egg cup prototype and our trivet craggles. The whole story
